Double Vision (and that ain’t so bad)

I was listening to “The Way FM” the other day (104.3) and the dj announced that Lou Graham, of Foreigner fame, announced that later this year he would release his first ever Christian CD and, as was reported by The Way, Graham said “and it will rock.” Now see, here’s the thing; I’m getting older. I was a kid when Foreigner was on its first go-round so this does not “feel like the first time” to me. In fact, all “head games” aside, I’m really looking forward to seeing what Graham puts together.
For instance; will Graham rehash some old Foreigner hit? If so, what about Urgent…you know, like “Salvation’s urgent…urgent…urgent.” I think that might work really well for him providing the ApologetiX haven’t already ripped that one off.
I think what’s really exciting to me about Graham’s faith is that if it can happen to him, it can happen to anybody from the 80’s rock genre era. Think about it; Styx, Loverboy, Aldo Nova (was that just one guy? Really?), Journey, REO Speedwagon, Cars, Boston…the possibilities are endless. Just imagine, the original bands rehashing the original hits to become songs for Glory!
Styx - Lorelei (Let’s get married and have a covenant relationship with Christ)
Loverboy - Everybody’s Workin’ for the Kingdom
Aldo Nova - uh, nevermind, he’s Canadian.
Journey - Don’t Stop Believin’ (in Jesus)
REO Speedwagon - I Can’t Fight This Feelin’ Anymore (I accepted Jesus)
Cars - You Might Think (I’m Foolish) (1 Corinthians 1:18)
Boston - Don’t Look Back (Philippians 3:12-14)
I don’t know, but I think it could happen. You might say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.
BTW, if you’ve read this blog entry and none of this strikes you as funny, read it to your kid or read it to your parents and see what they think.

At Cornerstone a few weeks ago, Dan Spitz announced that he was working on a new record (”from Him, through me, for you”), and will be playing C.Stone next year.

I heard Brian Welch from the band Korn has been saved and living for Christ. I don’t know if he has any new music in the works though.

That’s a fact! His new CD, “Save Me From Myself” is now out and available through Amazon and probably most other regular outlets. Check the credits on the CD and you’ll find some really interesting folks making appearances. If you look it up on Amazon you’ll see two things that really stand out to me: 1) that there are 21 reviews and all give the effort 5 stars and 2)look at what people who bought Welch’s CD are buying. Talk about getting the message in front of the lost!
